Transitional rugs blend elements of modern and traditional styles together. These rugs may feature patterns similar to a distressed antique rug but with bold and bright colours found in more modern and contemporary rugs. The reverse can also be classed as a transitional style rug to the point of blurring the lines and distinctions between them. These rugs update the traditional rug with simpler and sometimes boho chic characteristics. Hugely popular as they attempt to capture the memories of past and bring them to the present. Many of these rugs are found under overlapping category of Bohemian, Modern and Contemporary ranges as well.
